Good Neighbors Global Impact Foundation (CEO Hyun Jin-young) announced that it successfully concluded the Global Impact Challenge, jointly organized with the Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency (KOAT, President Ahn Ho-geun), on the 28th.
The Global Impact Challenge was designed to identify agri-food startups capable of creating social and economic value in developing-country markets and to support their localization capabilities and business development for overseas expansion.
A number of startups applied during the recruitment period from May 26 to June 13. Following a document screening process, seven companies were selected for the basic program. Over the course of two months, they refined their collaboration plans through global business development training and mentoring before presenting their final proposals at the Demo Day held on the 21st.
Following the final evaluation, two companies were selected for the advanced program: LabSD (CEO Kim Yun-seung), which specializes in remote retinal imaging, and YBiz (CEO Jeong Seung-baek), which provides smart seedling systems. The selected companies will be provided with opportunities to conduct field demonstrations in developing countries across regions including Latin America and Southeast Asia, along with tailored support for international market entry.
Good Neighbors Global Impact also plans to continue exploring long-term collaboration opportunities with companies that were not selected in the final round, while further expanding its global partnership network.
Ahn Ho-geun, President of KOAT, said, “This program was launched to support agri-food startups in expanding into global markets. We hope it will serve as an important stepping stone for the selected companies to broaden their potential internationally and become a new growth engine for the agri-food industry.”
Hyun Jin-young, CEO of Good Neighbors Global Impact, said, “Through our work in international development, we have seen firsthand that technology, alongside people and financial resources, is a critical driver of change. This program gave us the opportunity to meet outstanding technology companies capable of creating meaningful change in the field. We will work closely with them to create synergies that benefit both local communities and the participating companies.”
Building on this experience, Good Neighbors Global Impact plans to continue working with KOAT to support the global expansion of agri-food startups and foster a sustainable agri-food ecosystem.
